Logistics and Security Focal Point Officer

The Norwegian Refugee Council is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced persons. We advocate for their rights and assist with shelter, education, food security, and information counselling & legal assistance.

NRC seeks:
Logistics and Security Focal Point Officer (1 national staff position)
 Gaza City

Overall responsibility:

The position holder is responsible for all logistical support services to NRC Gaza programme activities including to provide timely security information and advice and to manage security support functions.

Summary of Main Duties:

Procurement

Undertake procurement tasks including but not limited to gathering quotes and purchasing items in accordance with NRC rules, regulations, practices and procedures

Asset and Stores management

Ensure that inventory lists are kept are timely and correctly maintained according to NRC rules, regulations, practices and procedures

Vehicle fleet management

Supervise the NRC drivers and vehicles

Security focal point

Provide timely security information and advice and to manage security support functions

Qualifications and Experience
Essential

-University degree in logistics, procurement or related field
-Minimum of 3-4 years  relevant  experience
-Good interpersonal skills, analytical and communication skills
-Proven ability to motivate and manage people
-Attention to detail and very well organised
-Proven ability to plan and manage own time and others
-Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English, spoken and written
-High level of computer literacy
-Willingness to flexible working hours
-High level of self motivation and commitment to NRC values


Desirable

-Experience of  government, UN or international organisation logistic routines
-Experience of UN or international organisation personnel safety and security routines


Commencement:March 2011
Contract period: 12 months, with possible extension
Salary/benefits:According to NRC’s general directions pay commessurate with  experience and benefits provided.
