Food Security Specialist

NRC seeks:

Food Security Specialist
 (short term consultancy, national staff position)

 Gaza Strip

NRC works internationally in the field of Food Security and will establish a new project in the Gaza Strip during early 2011. NRC has recently received new funding to establish a project titled; Increase household food security through cash and voucher system designed to support local livelihoods (fisheries).

Qualifications and Experience

All applicants must have extensive proven experience of managing food security or livelihoods projects in the Gaza Strip. The vacancy is for a project start-up consultant (short term contract 4-6 weeks).

Minimum profile requirements:

-University degree in related field with 4-5 years experience, or minimum 10 year relevant experience
-Direct implementation/management experience of food security or livelihoods projects in Gaza
-Needs assessment experience
-Beneficiary selection and data collection/analysis experience
-Knowledge of cash and/ or voucher project implementation
-Knowledge of the food security cluster/sector coordination mechanisms in Gaza
-Excellent interpersonal skills, analytical and communication skills
-Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English, spoken and written
-High level of computer literacy
-Willingness to flexible working hours
-High level of self motivation and ability to provide results with limited supervision
-Commitment to NRC values

Start date:As soon as possible
Contract period:initially 4-6 weeks
Salary/benefits:According to NRC’s general directions pay commessurate with  experience and  benefits provided.
